'Women Leaders & Sustainable Communities' forum
to headline GreeningUSA Annual Meeting April 20
SYRACUSE, NEW YORK GreeningUSA, a local non-profit organization focused on enhancing the sustainability of communities, will hold its eighth Annual Meeting on Friday, April 20, 2012, from 7:30-10 a.m. at The Bistro in the Gordon Student Center, Onondaga Community College. The event is free and open to the public. Because of limited seating, advance registration is required.

This year’s event will feature several prominent women leaders, representing diverse segments of the community, participating in an open forum titled, “Women Leaders & Sustainable Communities.” The forum’s panelists are:
- Sherburne Abbott, Vice President for Sustainability Initiatives, Syracuse University;
- Amy Casper, CEO, Ephesus Technologies, Syracuse;
- Vita DeMarchi, Synapse Partners, Syracuse; and
- Joanne Shenandoah, Ph.D., Grammy Award-winning singer songwriter and board member of the Hiawatha Institute for Indigenous Knowledge.
Posing questions to the panelists and facilitating the forum will be Sandra Barrett, Onondaga Citizens League; Diane Brandli, GreeningUSA; Hanah Ehrenreich, CNY Works; and Tracie Hall, U.S. Green Building Council, New York Upstate Chapter. Shenandoah will kick off the program with a performance of her song, “Your Legacy.”
The meeting will also feature GreeningUSA's annual Sustainability Awards Program in which the group will present its “Sustaining Our Communities” Advocacy Awards and annual member recognition awards. The advocacy award recognizes up to five recipients—individuals, organizations or businesses—who made significant impacts on creating more sustainable communities across New York State last year.
